Dr. Ramani Narayan is University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science, and a world-leading expert on biologically degradable and biobased materials. Among his many accolades and accomplishments, he served on the Board of Directors of ASTM International, the premier international standards organization, and served as the founding chair of the committee on Environmentally Degradable Plastics and Biobased Products (D20.96), helping to lead the development of specification standards such as D6400 and D6868. He has 200+ refereed publications in leading journals, 32 issued patents, and edited three books in the area of environmentally responsible biobased materials [h-index 51; i10-index 143, 12,248 citations — Google Scholar]. He has graduated 22 Ph.D. and 23 Master’s students at MSU and currently has 4 Ph.D. students working in his group along with several post-doctoral fellows, industrial visiting fellows, and six undergraduate CHE students.
